Nike Sportswear Dunks for 2010

It has been a while since we have seen a major push for classic varsity colorways, but it appears the drought will be over pretty soon. Nike Sportswear has a trio of Dunks that come correct in some familiar college and high school color schemes including White/Varsity Red-Black, White/Orange Blaze-Varsity Blue and finally White/University Blue-Obsidian.

More than just simple color blocking, the Dunks offer rarely seen materials including tumbled leather and mesh. No word yet on pricing, but currently these are being called to release in January 2010.

air-jordan-1-high-black-shadow-grey-1Ok, yes, there have been a lot of Air Jordan 1’s that have released this year. So many that we have lost count - honestly. The last thing that you should do however, is treat this Air Jordan 1 the same as the rest.

For starters, the Black/Shadow Grey-White colorway is a hard to find original color dating back almost a quarter century and this is the first time it has returned. Next, this Jordan 1 is a high top cut just like the OG. We have seen many mid cut Jordan 1s come out, and lets face it, that extra inch matters (pause). Lastly, and most importantly, the leather on this pair of Air Jordan 1 is far superior to what we have seen on many shoes lately. Don’t believe us, check out the shots after the break.

This Air Jordan 1, unlike most retro Air Jordans, does NOT have an official release date. What does this mean for you? As soon as they arrive to retailers, they can go on sale to the public. We just received word that they have started to surface to Jordan Brand shops, so stay in close contact with your spot so you don’t miss out. Box price is $110.

At the end of July, we informed you of two Air Jordan Fusion 4 colorways (including this one) that were available at Nike’s online store. Now, we have received word that this Air Jordan Fusion 4 Varsity Red is available at the House of Hoops Cherry Hill location.

This particular Air Jordan Fusion 4 colorway was considered the best of the Fusion 4’s by many of you. It features a predominately varsity red upper with minimal cement details on the laceholders, heel panel and midsole. Although we just stated it is now available at the House of Hoops Cherry Hill location, check your local House of Hoops location for this Air Jordan Fusion 4 Varsity Red.

From the initial reaction of sneaker heads when the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Fresh Water” released, it is fair to say Nike did things right with this retro. First we showed you the “Fresh Waters” and then the Royal/ Vaults. Now we have pictures of the upcoming Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Anthracite/ Black/ Hot Red.

The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Anthracite/ Black/ Hot Red colorway features a combination of both black leather and suede throughout the upper with a white midsole that features red visible air bags. Release Reminder: Air Jordan 7 DMP 60+ Pack

TIn the midst of the Back To School shopping season, the Air Jordan 7 DMP 60+ Pack will release. First announced to release on 8/22, the retro Jordan double pack will release tomorrow, August 15th at Jordan Brand retailers nationwide.

This past NBA season was one to remember. Although there were great, memorable games from the first round to the championship, the Nike commercials provided a great sidebar of laughter for all of us; the LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Lil Dez puppets made us not want to leave our seats during timeouts and intermission. Nike has now used the latter puppet as a application design on the Big Nike model.

At a first glance, this sneaker seems to be simply designed seeing that it possesses a predominately sport red synthetic leather base; however, it contains many elements that make us wonder if Lil Dez actually got a hold of these. For example, the words, Congrats Kobe are written in white script on the collar areas of both shoes. In addition, one of the insoles reads, “Kobe do you have any new shoes, can I see your shoes?“

Puma First Round S Mix Limited Edition

As seen earlier today, Puma is currently applying numerous designs to the Clyde model. With that said, along with the “Raps” lineup and the “Africa” Clyde lineups, Puma has also released two limited edition First Round models at select retailers such as Mita.

The pair shown to the right owns a predominately grey leather base with minimal black accents in the form of the heel panel, tongue logo and outsole. The second pair, shown after the jump contains a colorway similar to the previously mentioned “Raps” Clyde. Nike Air Max LeBron VII Performance Review

One can argue that Lebron James’s signature sneaker line is parallel to his basketball skill set. It seems, with each passing year, ‘King James’ continues to get better and better; likewise, his latest shoe always seems to be better than his last. However, his sixth signature shoe, the Nike Zoom LeBron VI was a very quality sneaker performance-wise and makeup-wise. While each person is entitled to his/her opinion on style preference, could the Nike Air Max LeBron VII surpass the Zoom LeBron VI in performance capabilities?

During the LeBron James Innovation and Inspiration Summit, we got the chance to put the Air Max LeBron VII through an interactive wear-test session for 45 minutes to an hour at St. Vincent St. Mary’s High School (LeBron’s high school). There, James’s high school coach Dru Joyce took the attendees through specific drills and let us engage in short-stinted five on five games. Our previous performance reviews were created after playing in the specific shoe for weeks, however, after only playing in the Air Max LeBron VII for a short amount of time, we are still able to see what LeBron’s seventh signature shoe was all about.Check out more detailed shots of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII after the break as well as the performance review and score card on following pages.

Strengths: When first sliding your foot into the Air Max LeBron VII, you automatically feel an extreme comfort level which is ideal for a basketball player. While we have heard some mouths skeptical of the Air Max technology instead of the Zoom attributes, one cannot argue the unmatched cushion attributes this shoe possesses. LeBron James himself described it best: “It’s as if you are walking on air.” The full-length 360 Max airbag meets the demands of a player who moves with extreme power by featuring such a respnsive feel. In other words, pertaining to its low-to-the-ground attributes, one is able to get off the ground (vertical response time) effortlessly. The Air Max LeBron VII contains a very ‘bouncy’ feel to it and does not weight you down at all. With that said, you can also give credit to lightweight capacity. The up-to-date flywire technology gives the sneaker an undoubtedly low ounce level, while also possessing extreme stability level from the forefoot to the heel. To sum things up, the Nike Air Max LeBron VII can successfully be worn by positions 1-5 on the hardwood. It contains a nice contrast of lightweight capacity with unmatched stability.

Weaknesses: You would have to dig very deep to find any obvious weaknesses on the Air Max LeBron VII. Matter of fact, it does not have weaknessess; it possesses areas that are questionable after many wears. Even LeBron stated, “I have wear-tested it while practicing, but I have not had the chance to full-fledge play in it on the NBA hardwood yet.” With that said, one question we all continue to debate is whether or not the flywire technology can withstand the rigors of an all-out war on the hardwood. Sure, the Hyperdunk, the Hyperize and the Zoom Kobe IV are without a doubt superb sneakers, however, it remains to be seen how they last over an extended period of time. Yet, after talking with Jason Petrie, the designer of the Air Max LeBron VII, we now know that flywire technology is evolving consistently and this particular sneaker contains additional, sturdy flywire features that the aforementioned shoes do not possess. In addition, there are not many perforations on the upper which can possibly be a problem of breathability over long stretches of game. However, name us a perfect sneaker and we will give you $1,000,000. Sorry, you cannot do it.

Overall, the Air Max LeBron VII is an unparalled sneaker and stands for everything that is ‘future’ at Nike. From the time we had the chance to play in it, this sneaker performs very well and provides the player with an advantage due to its extreme comfort, lightweight capacity and stability.

Michael Jordan had a number of great games throughout his career. Whether it was hitting a game winning shot, hitting a clutch 3-pointer, or pulling out a defensive stop when his team needed it, you name it, Mike did it.

One of the most memorable performances by Michael Jordan came on January 16, 1993 when the Chicago Bulls played host to the Orlando Magic. MJ’s 64 point game wasn’t quite enough to win the match, but his outstanding performance will be honored with the release of the Air Jordan 7 DMP 60+ Pack.

MJ wore the Air Jordan 7 and thus represented in this pack is a “Bulls” and “Magic” colorway. The Black/Red colorway was the one MJ wore while the other pair is inspired by the Orlando Magic colors and include such details as the tongue of the Nike Air Penny 1 and a veiny detail on the midsole which ties back to the swoosh of the Nike Air Penny 1.

The release date of this pack has been officially pushed up to release August 15th for $310.

Nike Air Max LeBron VII Unveiled

Center in Akron, OH, Nike officially unveiled LeBron James’ 7th signature sneaker, the Nike Air Max LeBron VII. LeBron James was there live to introduce the shoe along with designer Jason Petrie.

At the event, it was announced that the Nike Air Max LeBron VII is the lightest LeBron signature sneaker to date making use of the Nike Flywire technology. Other details announced include a 10 city world tour to introduce the shoe that will release in October.

Throwback Thursday: Air Jordan XII Black/Varsity Red OG

Earlier this week, photos surfaced and info spread about an upcoming retro Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” that honors MJ’s 38 point performance while playing in the 1997 NBA Finals with a bad case of the flu. For this week’s Throwback Thursday we reached into the vault to pull out the original pair from ‘97. While a few changes were made to the upcoming retro release, we wanted to give you a look back at the OG.

Despite coming in a Nike box, it was the first Air Jordan shoe to not have any Nike logos or markings on the inside or outside of the shoe. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan XII was inspired by the pre-WWII Rising Sun Japanese flag which will be remembered with a retro release later this year. While there will long be debate regarding what shoe from the Air Jordan lineup was the best built, there are many arguments in favor of the Air Jordan XII. The shoes upper was a thick, rich leather that would hold up indoors and out. The soles featured herringbone traction as well as a midfoot carbon fiber shank for added stability. Lastly, something that many still to this day appreciate is the Nike Zoom Air cushioning that made its debut in the Air Jordan XII.

We’ve seen more Air Jordan 1’s then we can count in recent months, and there is no end in site. Case in point, the Strap Fall Colorways, and Phat Premiers, each landing in a handful of colorways in the coming months.

From the looks of it, 2010 will see more of the same. The Air Jordan 1 High is scheduled to land at retailers in March of next year. The makeup combines Dark Obsidian (dark blue) and Cerulean (light blue) in a mix of premium materials, and will retail for $115.

And 1 first hit the scene in 1993, but a memorable performance by Vince Carter in the 2000 NBA All Star Slam Dunk Competition forever changed a brand, and a shoe. On the macro scale, few knew about the brand, and even fewer knew the name of the shoes VC was wearing, but after winning the Dunk Contest, the And 1 Tai Chi was “that shoe.”

Leading up to the 10th anniversary of Vince Carter’s Slam Dunk performance, And 1 is launching a nine month campaign to reintroduce the Tai Chi and its successor, the Tai Chi TGR. On November 1st, the Tai Chi will come in the exact white/red colorway that was worn by VC for only $70 ($5 less than the 1999 retail price). Soon to follow will be a special edition Tai Chi Mid limited to the tune of 212 pairs leading up to the release of the new And 1 Tai Chi TGR All Star Weekend on 2.14.10.

It has been a long time coming for this shoe to make its way back, but at last it will return.

This Nike Air Force 1 Premium Un-Michael Lau made its way onto the web last month for the first time. It has been dubbed the Un-Michel Lau, due to it’s quilted-like paneling that resembles last year’s Air Crazy Force 1.

The Un-Michael Lau AF1 comes with an all white upper, combined with the beloved gum bottom. The combination is without a doubt a classic, however with a number of quilted panels, does this take away from its appeal?

This fall, Jordan Brand celebrates the lifelong accomplishment of Michael Jordan’s enshrinement into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Three silhouettes were called upon to represent the legacy as well as the then and now of Michael Jordan - the Jordan 6 Rings, Air Jordan 1, and Air Jordan 2009. Each pair of the Jordan “Hall of Fame” Pack is uniquely styled with numbers of significance in Jordan’s career.

Though the collection is known as the “Hall of Fame” Pack, the shoes are sold individually ranging from $125-$200. Michael Jordan’s big day will take place Friday, September 11th, but this collection will release the weekend before on September 5th at Jordan retailers nationwide.

Recently, Nike has applied some of the more memorable cartoons and movies on the Big Nike model such as the “Flintstone” Pack and the “Wolverine”, respectively. Yet, Nike seems to be catering to the women on this newly-designed Big Nike model.

This particular sneaker features a predominately plum-colored leather upper with multiple pink details in the form of the shoelaces, inner lining and outsole. However, one of the more interesting features on this shoe is the floral design that smothers the toe area, heel panel and laceholder area. The Air Force 1 has been a long time standard in the sneaker game. Although the white on white is timeless, anytime a classic colorway is applied, it equates to near insta-cop status with AF1 heads.

The Nike Air Force 1 in this black and silver colorway should find plenty of Oakland Radier fans as followers. Not only are the colors a perfect match for the team colors, but the foil like finish on the silver coloring is perfect as well for members of the Raider Nation.
